Clubs & Societies

Infocomm Club (IDA)

Vision:

YCSS IDA Infocomm aspires to provide an avenue for the students to express their talents in the infocomm industry.

Mission:

To equip its members with up-to-date ICT skills so to keep abreast with the dynamic and volatile infocomm industry.

Goals:

- Provides students with good fundamental understanding of animation and the various genres of creation such as stop-motion, digital 2D and audio/video editing as fundamental and necessary skills.
- Introduces the fundamental techniques and terminology of classical animation such as timing and spacing, and enables the students to apply these concepts in the production of 2d animation within the digital realm.
- Provide students with an overall knowledge of the techniques and tools for creating computer animation. This module covers the basic principles of classical animation (3D) which deal with the concepts of motion, transformation and timing.

Infocomm Club (Robotics)

Vision:

Independent and determined members who are capable of producing creative solutions.

Mission:

Provides the skills for students to acquire independence and to cultivate strong determination through various competitions.

Goals:

To achieve ‘The Championship Award’ in National Junior Robotics Competition organized by Singapore Science Centre and A*STAR.

Competition:

- Underwater Robotics Olympiad (Republic Polytechnic)
- National Software Competition (Singapore Polytechnic)

Library Club

Vision:

A place where knowledge comes alive.

Mission:

Providing a reliable and accessible library and information service so as to help all users develop the abilities to access, utilize and evaluate ideas and information.

Goals:

To provide a conducive environment to support instructional and non-instructional programmes, organise activities which student librarians can enjoy and cultivate student librarians who are committed in serving the student population.

Key Programmes:

- On-going promotion of books through design of posters, bookmarks, book displays and updating of notice-boards
- Amazing Race to welcome new members
- Setting up of NE Corner
- Movie screening/Board Games
- Word Challenge 2011
- Service Learning Project 2011
- Let’s Read, Yuan Ching! (working in collaboration with the EL Department and ELDDS)
- Re-design the Library (CIVICA)

Lion/Dragon Dance

Every member to be a performer who enjoys mimicking the Lion and Dragon Dance movement with musical accompaniment.

To provide opportunity for every member to develop his/her talent in Lion and Dragon Dance.

Mission:

To promote interest in art amongst students.

Goals:

-To enjoy and appreciate art through fun and interesting ways.
-To foster good relationships and team spirit within members.

Key Programmes:

- Drawing/Painting: Mural, Mask Painting, Stone Painting, Egg Shell Painting, Plate Painting.
- Crafts: Mobile Sculpture, Windmill Making, Stenciling, Lantern Making, Artwork using recycled materials.
