Humanities Department

Vision:

Students who are sensitive and responsible towards global issues.

Mission:

Enabling students to be information literate, critical thinkers and active citizens.

Goals:

1. To achieve and sustain value-added GCE ‘O’ Level results for Humanities.

2. To develop students to be independent learners with strong analytical and writing skills.

3. To provide a holistic humanities education programme to enhance students’ awareness and appreciation of the world they live in.

The Humanities Curriculum

The Humanities Department comprises the Geography, History, Social Studies and Principles of Accounts Units.  There are currently 4 Geography, 5 History & Social Studies and 2 POA teachers in the department. The department aims to provide students with a firm foundation for independent and continuous learning by giving them ample opportunities for creative and collaborative work.  In addition, NE, IT and Thinking Skills are infused into the daily lessons to make lessons interesting, meaningful and come alive.

The Humanities Dept is constantly reviewing its strategies and approaches to ensure that they are relevant, current and effective in achieving the desired outcomes of education.
