Principal’s Message 2012

Resolutions for the New Year need not dismiss the wealth of knowledge, skills and personal growth that we have accumulated over the past years. Oftentimes, in our eagerness to focus on aspirations for the year, we tend to start from a ‘clean slate’ perspective. However, in Yuan Ching, we ought to remain grateful and value all positive learning that we have acquired in the past years and resolve to build on them to take the quantum leap in 2012.

We recognise that in a changing and undulating world scenario, Singapore as a small open economy, will have to grapple with multi-faceted complex challenges. Our response to this impending future is encapsulated in Minister Mr Heng Swee Keat’s call for Student Centricity and Values-Driven education. Our school mission to statement ‘Enriching Minds, Unleashing Potential, Impacting Lives’ as well as our vision for ‘Every Individual to be a Thinker, an Achiever, a Global Citizen’ resonate with the national call for every child to be effectively enriched with information and communication skills, critical and inventive thinking skills and civic literacy, global awareness and cross cultural skills.

While we continue to focus on the students’ needs and affirm the individual’s potential and talent, our whole-school programmes will reiterate the need for the school to blossom as a community of learners. The strong Yuan Ching family and community spirit of collaborative and collective effort will remain strong in helping us to recognise our interdependence and the value of synergetic outcomes.

Like the symbolic rotary wheel, pupils holding hands and the radiating sun in our school crest, let us commit ourselves to progress and continuous improvement by working together as a close knit school community to ensure that every staff and student in Yuan Ching shines with brilliance, character and unique talent.

On behalf of the staff, I wish everyone a new year filled with reminiscing of positive past experiences, committing ourselves to giving our best and relishing the present while looking forward to a future filled with beautiful dreams.

Mrs Saraspathy Menon
Principal
